SHUT THE BOX RULES
A game for everyone, including children of all ages
GAME RULES
Shut the box can be played with one player, one opponent or multiple opponents.
Originally, a gambling pastime in English Pubs where each player would anti-up into the pool and the winner would get the pool.
However, play it for fun: the loser makes the next batch of popcorn or has to get everybody their next drink.
TWO PLAYER GAME
The first player rolls the dice. He/she then opens or raises as many tiles as possible to equal the combined numbers on the dice, i.e. if the dice rolled are 4 & 6 for a total of 10, then any combination of 10 can be opened: (5, 3 & 2), (1 & 9) or (2 & 8). The first player then rolls the dice again. He/she then opens tiles equal to the numbers on the dice. If he/she can’t open the tiles exactly (to the total on the dice), then the second player gets his/her turn. Now the second player rolls the dice and closes the tiles to equal the numbers on dice. This continues back and forth until one of the players succeeds in either opening or closing all of the tiles. You must use both dice regardless of what tiles remain.
